Parking Services DepartmentMission Parking and Transportation Services is dedicated to providing professional parking and shuttle service on campus for students, faculty, staff, visitors and guests of the University of North Florida in an efficient and effective manner. The department delivers parking access through communication, enforcement, and general maintenance and ensures a safe campus-wide transit system through contract management, scheduling and communication. For contact information, click here. Why strict enforcement? Students, faculty and staff members tell us that they want parking regulations strictly enforced so that those who pay good money for parking passes and play by the rules are not taken advantage of by those who don't. Permits are required from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permits are not required on weekends unless there is a special event on campus. All other rules are enforced 24/7/365 to make the campus lots and garages safe and to make the most efficient use of the parking space available. Occasionally, mistakes are made or there are extenuating circumstances. To assure fair treatment, UNF has a ticket appeals process governed by either the Student Appeals Board or the Parking Violations Appeal Board.
Master Plan for parking With the growth of the student population and the need for additional buildings in the core of the campus, some parking spaces will be removed. The Parking Advisory Council provides input to administration about parking issues to help with planning. The Board of Trustees (BOT) has approved a Master Plan, which includes plans for parking in the future. Two new garages will be built, one in Lot 18 and one near Lot 14. A road will be built to provide vehicular access to Lot 18 from campus. As the proportion of parking moves from the center of campus to the fringe of the campus, a shuttle service will be introduced to carry passengers from the outer lots and garages to campus. The BOT is also looking into the possibility of an off-campus Park-and-Ride service, facilitating more bicycle usage and other ways to provide adequate parking.
