Parking for those with disabilities

What students need to know before they buy a permit.

While permits are available all year long, the more desirable permits do sell out quickly.  Students are encouraged to buy online using their myWings account as soon as possible after the date they go on sale. Discount Permits are always available, and may be purchased online or at the Cashier's Office.

Pay for permits online

You can now pay for your permit online with a MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit card.  Just log on to your myWings account and go to the Academics/Students tab.

Types of parking permits

Choose between a transferable permit that hangs from the rearview mirror or a permanent decal in case you have a convertible or a motorcycle.  The closer to the center of campus, the more it costs.  Seniority has its privileges – upperclassmen, faculty and staff have more choices; freshmen who commute are restricted to Lots 18 and 53.  Prices vary, so click here for the current pricing schedule.

Parking Permit Dispenser

Daily Parking

If you only need to come to campus once or twice a week, try buying a $3.00 Daily Permit from the Parking Permit Dispensers located in Lots 18 and 53. You may park in Lots 18 or 53 ONLY with this pass.

Discount Permit

The best values are Discount Permits.  There are two types.  One allows parking in Lots 14, 18 and 53 ONLY. The other is for first-time-in-college commuters and the Housing students who were unable to purchase a special Housing parking permit (see below).  This parking permit allows parking in Lots 18 and 53 ONLY.

While these lots may be farthest from the center of campus the way the osprey flies, they can actually save you time as well as money!  Lot 18 is accessible from Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road via Central Parkway, or from UNF Drive via the new North-South Road.  Lot 14 is near the UNF Police building.  Lot 53 is east of Kernan, off First Coast Technology Parkway. Just zip right in, find a ton of spaces and grab the shuttle.  You’ll probably beat the guy who paid top dollar for a garage spot and is spending more time circling than you are strolling to class or riding the shuttle bus.

Premium Permit

Drivers with Premium Permits can park on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor of the garages and in many surface lots, but not in orange-lined spaces marked Designated or numbered Reserved spaces, spaces marked Restricted, or or in Lots 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16 and 17.  Lots 10, 11, 12, 15 and 17 are for Housing Permits only.

Housing Permit

There are two types of Housing permits.  The first is for The Crossings that allows for parking in Lots 15, 17, 18 and 53 ONLY.  The other is for the Osprey Hall, Osprey Landing, Osprey Village and the Osprey Cove that allows for parking in Lots 10, 11, 12, 47, 18 and 53 ONLY.  All vehicles displaying Housing permits must park in the specific lots noted here.  Please note, you may not always be able to find a spot in the lot next to your residence hall.

There will be a limited number of Housing permits available.  This permit type will be sold only to those living in housing in 2008-2009.  Students returning from the 2007-2008 year will get priority to purchase these permits. Students living in housing who do not obtain a Housing parking permit will only be able to purchase a Lots 18 and 53 ONLY Discount Permit.

Motorcycle Permit

Motorcycle parking is available throughout the garages and core campus lots and is identified by signage.  It is the best deal going at UNF.  And while motorcycles are convenient and fun, UNF wants you to be safe.  Please wear your helmet and be careful. The parking permit is to be adhered to the rearward portion of the fender of the motorcycle.

Disability Parking

Vehicles parked in disability spots must have both the UNF permit or decal for that lot or garage and either a state-issued disability parking placard or a UNF-issued temporary mobility impairment placard.

Visitor Passes

If you have a friend or parent coming to visit, tell them to buy a Premium Daily Parking Permit for $3.00 at either of the Parking Information Booths located near the entrances to campus that will allow parking in many of the lots and garages around campus. These include: the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor of the garages; all surface lots, except Lot 7 and Lot 16; or Housing Lots 10, 11, 12, 15 and 17.  They may not park in Designated, Restricted or Reserved spots, or on the first floor of the garages.

No visitor pass is required on weekends, unless there is a special event happening. Multiple-consecutive-day permits are also available at Parking Services.

Other things you need to know

More permits are sold than the number of parking spots since students don’t come to campus everyday and don’t stay all day and night.  This way, more spots are made available for everyone. There will always be a space available for you somewhere, but you are not guaranteed a spot in your favorite lot or garage.

If your permit gets stolen, you break your leg, your car (and its decal) is in the shop for the day or you have a special request, contact Parking & Transportation Services.

We’re here to help!

Parking Tips

Even if your classes start at 10:00 a.m., come to campus at 8:00 or 9:00 and study in the library or the Matthews computer lab.  You’re more likely to find a good spot and be better prepared for class, too.
